Absolutely.

The only thing we generally recommend avoiding is clothing covered in giant logos, brand names, or large blocks of text.

You're not a billboard.

We want people looking at you—not reading your shirt.

One exception?

Senior jeans.

Those painted graduation jeans have become part of senior-year tradition, and they're a fun way to document this season of life.

Don't Buy an Entire New Wardrobe

This surprises a lot of people.

You do not need five brand-new outfits.

In fact, some of the best senior sessions include clothes that have been loved for years.

That favorite jacket.

The boots you've practically lived in.

The hoodie everyone associates with you.

Authenticity always beats expensive.

What About Hair and Makeup?

Parents ask this question all the time.

Our answer is probably different than what you'll hear from many photographers.

Professional hair and makeup can absolutely be a wonderful addition.

We offer it when it's a good fit.

But we don't believe every senior needs it.

Teenagers should still look like teenagers.

If your daughter enjoys having her makeup professionally done, fantastic.

If she'd rather do it herself because that's what feels like her, that's wonderful too.

The goal isn't to transform someone.

It's to help them feel confident.

Shoes Matter More Than You Think

People spend weeks choosing outfits.

Then throw on whatever shoes happen to be by the door.

Don't do that.

Shoes complete the look.

Whether they're boots, heels, sneakers, cowboy boots, Converse, or dress shoes, make sure they fit the style of the outfit.

And yes...

Bring comfortable shoes to walk between locations if we're exploring downtown or Garden of the Gods.

Parents: Here's My Advice

Your teenager has an opinion.

Listen to it.

You don't have to agree with every fashion choice.

But remember what we're celebrating.

You might be surprised by how much more relaxed—and cooperative—they become when they feel heard.

Seniors: Here's My Advice
